A resource tool for BSC Staff
What is PBS?
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a process for creating a safer and more enriching school environment by establishing a positive, proactive school-wide behaviour management practice. It is a data-driven framework comprised of effective practices, interventions, and strategies for establishing a healthy social culture within the College. Under this framework we will outline and encourage expected behaviours that were created in consultation with staff and students.
Essentially its a behaviour management practice using positive strategies, reinforcement and language.
The PBS team creates short videos to show on the Morning Show to introduce the Fortnightly Focus.
The College has a system for rewarding students called “ROAR points” and “ORE points”.
These are awarded through Compass which is our online management database.
Students earn these points by displaying positive behaviours, especially those outlined on the Matrix.
ORE points are “Organised and Ready” points which are given during each lesson to students who are:
On time, their bag is at the back of the room, they brought their device and are starting the “DO NOW” task
These points should be “Free & Frequent”.
How to input points into Compass
ROAR points accumulated can be “spent’ at the ROAR store. The ROAR Store is located in J Block upstairs near the IT Labs.
It is open before school, Lunch 1 & 2 on Tuesday & Thursday and before school and Lunch 2 on Friday.
Volunteer teaching staff are required to run the store. This is a wonderful opportunity for staff to have positive interactions one on one with students.
To volunteer please contact Emma Hussey or Leanne Ward.
